Honorable Mention – Ortege Jenkins

Position: Quarterback

Years at Arizona: 1997-2000

Stats at Arizona: 387/769 (50.3 percent) | 5,409 yards | 42 touchdowns | 26 INT’s – 326 carries | 461 yards | 13 touchdowns

First making an appearance in 1997 for the Wildcats in place for the injured Keith Smith, Ortege Jenkins would have a remarkable freshman season that propelled him into having a rather solid career at Arizona.

With he and Smith in the Wildcat backfield, it made for an exciting quarterback duo that you don’t often see at very many college programs. During his time, he helped guide the Wildcats to a 30-18 record, including the 12-1, Holiday Bowl-winning season in 1998!

He was a tremendous athlete that walked on with the basketball program as well and even made some pretty historic plays, including the infamous, ‘Leap by the Lake’.
