Former Arizona Basketball great and current star for the Orlando Magic Aaron Gordon looking for redemption in the 2020 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

It was four years ago when former Arizona Basketball standout Aaron Gordon was robbed during the 2016 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. In what will go down as possibly one of the greatest dunks of all time, Gordon would go on to lose to Zach LaVine. These two may have the chance to go at it again in the 2020 dunk contest.

Recently on ESPN’s The Jump he announced his plans to return the slam dunk contest if he is 100% healthy. Ironically enough it will be taking place in Chicago. LaVine vs AG 2.0 – WOW! There hasn’t been any official announcement that Lavine will participate, but with it taking place in the same city he plays for it makes sense that he should.

Five years into his NBA career, Gordon is still producing NBA All-Star quality numbers. Last season he averaged 16 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He had his share of dunks too, 110 to be exact.

The 2020 Slam Dunk contest could likely involve some high flyers, such as Zion Williamson or maybe even Ja Morant. Does Gordon have a chance against Williamson, maybe? Anything is possible. He did get robbed against Lavine in 2016 for having the best dunk of the night

That dunk is easily Top 5 of all-time. I mean Gordon grabbed the ball over the mascot’s head, went under both of his legs and then finished with his left hand. The power, the strength, and creativity – that dunk had it all!

His epic dunk battle with LaVine will go down as one of the greatest of all time. Both put on a show. Hopefully, Chicago fans and fans all over the globe will get a chance to see these two battle again.

During ESPN’s The Jump, Gordon indicated his dream dunk contest lineup:

In case you haven’t seen it before or want to see it again, enjoy the Mascot Dunk!

What does Aaron Gordon have in his bag of tricks this time around? Maybe bring back the Mascot and add some variation to it or just re-do the same dunk! Hopefully, he’ll be healthy enough to take part in the 2020 NBA Slam Dunk contest so we can all witness his greatness above the rim. As always, Bear Down Arizona!
