Arizona Football had a big win against a Power five team, Texas Tech, but the attendance was disappointing. This team more then ever needs the fans support.

37,207. That was attendance for Arizona Football game against Big 12 opponent Texas Tech. The game was a “white-out” game in which fans wore white shirts, but because there were a lot of empty seats the stadium itself wasn’t a complete white-out. I will say being in attendance for the game, the Zona Zoo showed up and stayed for the majority of the game. Kudos to them!

After starting the season with a loss to Hawaii and then coming back the next game with a with at home against NAU, the opportunity was there for Arizona Football to continue its momentum against the Raiders. That they did. They showed up and delivered on national television against a Power five program. But where were the fans?

Couldn’t have asked for a better situation. A non-conference game against a top-quality opponent, perfect weather, game on ESPN, chance to go 2-1 and even alcohol at the game to enjoy the whole experience. Apparently, though it wasn’t enough as there were empty seats scattered through Arizona Stadium.

More from Wildcats Football

If fans want to see this program go to the next level and build a culture of winning it really starts with the fans. Yes, you need the right coaching staff and players in place to be set up for success, but also the fans showing up and supporting the team plays an integral part as well.

Players feed off of the energy of the fans in the stadium, especially in big games such as Texas Tech. From personal experience, I have been to many Arizona Basketball games and with McKale Center filled to capacity. When that place gets loud, it gives the team that extra boost to go on crazy runs. That’s what this football team needs.

This season is going to be harder than ever with now six Pac-12 teams in the Top 25. Time we fill the stadium and make our voices heard and support this team till the very end.

Look around the country at the top programs. Fans fill the stadium every game. There is no reason Wildcat fans can’t do the same. Back in 1975, there were more fans in attendance in Tucson to watch the Wildcats take on the Raiders with 39,854.

Coaches and players showing some true emotion in the locker room, lets bring that same energy outside the locker room!
