What the schedule could look like for Arizona Football in 2020?
With the Arizona Football season already being altered due to the Corona Virus, we break down what the upcoming 2020 schedule could look like!
Well, it looks like avenging last years’ lost to Hawaii is going to have to wait until a later date, especially as the Arizona Football team won’t be playing any of their non-conference football games for 2020.
As everyone should be aware by now, it’s that the Pac-12 decided to forego all the non-conference games, condensing the season, which ultimately is pushing out the start date a few weeks.
Arizona Wildcats
Unfortunately for us Arizona Football fans, it means less games, and perhaps even less wins (including the likely guaranteed win versus Portland State this year).
Alas, the school will likely just play a nine-game season, and that is of course assuming that the Wildcats will still have a season this fall. Despite Athletic Director Dave Heeke having confidence that there will be a season, unfortunately nothing can be assured just yet.
Nonetheless, assuming the Wildcats go along with no hiccups from now until their first game, this is what their nine-game season would look like at the moment.
- Sept. 12 vs. Stanford
- Sept. 19 OFF
- Sept. 26 OFF
- Oct. 3 at UCLA
- Oct. 9 (Fri) vs. Colorado
- Oct. 17 vs. USC
- Oct. 23 (Fri) at Washington
- Oct. 31 vs. Oregon
- Nov. 7 at Utah
- Nov. 14 OFF
- Nov. 21 at Oregon State
- Nov. 28 vs. ASU
The nice thing here is that the Wildcats have three bye weeks slated, so if the unfortunate were to happen, and a few players test positive for Covid during the season, there is some time to adjust and hopefully recover.
However, what if the Wildcats were to play a 10-game schedule? Well, maybe they could add ASU in one of the three bye weeks could perhaps be feasible given the teams’ close proximity to each other.
Or if Arizona went to an 11-game schedule, instead of potentially playing ASU twice, Arizona could add Cal and Washington State, the only two Pac-12 teams that they are not projected to play this year.
Either way, we are just intrigued to see how this all plays out and hope that the Wildcats still get to have a 2020 season. As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
