Jermaine Wiggins Jr. finds inspiration wanting to play in the NFL like his dad, however, the 2022 commit is taking his path, playing for the Arizona Football.

Jermaine Wiggins, if you’ve heard his name before, is the former Georgia standout and Super Bowl Champion that played tight end in the NFL seasons for nine seasons, appearing with five teams before ending his career in 2006 with the Minnesota Vikings. However, that’s not who this article is about, this article is about his son, Arizona Football commit Jermaine Wiggins, Jr., or Wiggy/Wiggs for those who are close to him.

As you may know by now, it is that Wiggs recently committed to play for Arizona defensive coordinator Don Brown, Assistant Coach Ricky Hunley, and the Wildcats.

More from Football Recruiting

Currently living in Boston, Wiggy is a country boy that was born in West Virginia, with two other siblings, Jaden and Takida. Jaden is the younger brother to Jermaine who also plays football, while Takida is the older sister who just landed a big job at Louis Vuitton after graduating from college.

While at Michigan, coach Brown was recruiting Wiggins Jr., but then he took the Arizona job along with Ricky Hunley. Together, the two received a commitment from the 6-foot-4-inch, 250-pound two-way player. Still young and developing, he’s already two inches taller than his dad.

“Now I am accomplishing one of my goals, playing for big colleges.” Wiggins Jr. said. Wiggy originally played tight end like his dad but then became a two-way player. He will play defense for the Wildcats.

Coming in, Wiggins has big goals, “I want to be better than my dad,” he said. A confident and outspoken young man, however, his former youth basketball coach Joe, taught him how to be humble and be his own person.

Throughout his athletic career, he has had a great support system, starting at home. During his recruitment, Wiggy’s mom helped guide him, working with him on his offers, before ultimately selecting the Wildcats. As a family, they agreed they love the campus and the weather, and he cannot wait to take an official visit. In addition, he has family in Tucson so it makes the program an even better fit!

Wiggins Jr. may want to study business at the UofA, and he wants to open a gym and training facility once he is done with his football career. He is very excited to play defense for Coach Hunley and Coach Brown is showing him plays and blitz’s, and the two maintain contact, continuing to establish a strong rapport. His favorite Arizona Football uniform is all red and the metallic red helmets.

Jermaine is getting prepared to play in college by getting to college a semester early, “I think it all depends what I put in when I get there,” he explained. He doesn’t just want to be a freshman that sits back and watches, he wants to get stronger and faster so he can play as soon as possible.

Since he is currently his teams’ Captain, he wants to be a leader in college as well and from listening to him, he is ready to step right in and do a great job. Even though he wants to be a leader, he is transparent and understands he needs to learn too.
