As Spring Football has concluded for the Wildcats, Arizona Football has raised the bar when it comes to the Spring Football game.

It is only a football game in the Spring, it does not even count. That is the argument made by many who did not take the time to watch what was going on in Tucson on Saturday. Yes, while the results of the game will not affect whether Arizona Football makes a bowl game, nor will the stats not determine a players’ draft stock.

However, the game did bring back excitement to Arizona Football, and more importantly, it banded the Wildcat community together. For once, in what feels like decades, Wildcat Football is BACK!

As Arizona took to the field on Saturday, the mixed expectations among fans were shattered in the Spring football game as the Wildcats far exceeded any expectations.

This game had everything! Yes, I do mean everything, as Jedd Fisch got it right yet again! From breaking world records to water balloon fights with Gronk and Tedy Bruschi, this weekend in Tucson had it all. And boy does it sure feel good again to be a fan of Arizona Football.

Also, something Wildcat fans may have missed seeing was Willie Tuitama and Rob Gronkowski connecting for touchdowns just like they did in the older days. What a refreshing sight it was to see as alumni and ex-football players were having fun again in the Old Pueblo.

Who said we had to have the traditional coin toss? Coach Fisch re-invented it into a jump ball between Arizona legend Adia Barnes, and new men’s basketball coach Tommy Lloyd. While the moment was brief and quick, it was a sight to behold as the two coaches exchanged what seemed to be laughs and smiles underneath their masks. The tip ball was won by the quick hands of Coach Barnes.

Then it came game time! Who else to lead the players out than Tedy and Gronk as they swayed their arms back and forth before running out onto the field at Arizona Stadium.

For the first time in a long time, there was genuine excitement in the air and that was radiating off the players, fans, and student section. It is confirmed there is a legit buzz around Arizona Football right now and it is contagious.

It was so contagious, it even pulled in a highly touted basketball recruit to the game! As TyTy Washington took in the game from the Gronk Zoo with a few of his friends, and hopefully future teammates? As Wildcat fans we can sure hope so!

This Spring Game should have left a great impression on what it feels like to be part of the Arizona Wildcat family. One thing is for sure, Kanas and Kentucky fans were very salty about it all. Sorry, not sorry Jayhawks and Big Blue Nation!

As for the game, it was amazing to see a group of Wildcat football players play with such great energy and enthusiasm for the game. Each player that took the field offered such a different and dynamic skill set, and it is safe to say that competition for playing time will be at an all-time high going into this year.

We can not forget one aspect that happened during the game that we as Wildcat fans have been longing for. The Wildcats completed multiple passes to a tight end! Go check your sources, it is true! It even got better as one of those passes resulted in a touchdown! To cap it off, it ended in the only way a tight end touchdown should, as Stacey Marshall, Jr.  finished it off with a celebratory GRONK-SPIKE!

The game was hard-fought and in the end, it was Team Gronk that came up with the massive fourth-down stop to seal the victory over Team Bruschi! The celebration continued just like you would imagine a team lead by Gronk would, with chest bumps and a dousing of ice-cold water for the winning coach.

Here are some highlights from that game!

It was a day to remember for many players, coaches, and fans as they hope this is just a stepping stone to bigger things in the future! The momentum created up to this point is boiling over and hopefully spills right into the season opener against BYU in Vegas. Let’s help ride this wave by booking our flights and hotels to Vegas now and make Vegas Wildcat Country! As always, Bear Down and Go Cats!
