It was a horrible night for Arizona football and even worse for all the Wildcats fans on social media, but still a lot of fans are hopeful and Coaches are taking responsibility.
ZonaZealots had a lot of interaction with Wildcats fans tonight on social media. Some tweets were hysterical, some were poignant, some were angry, some were sad, and a number of them were hopeful. At this point, we are thinking fans do not want to hear about stats or facts, just plain emotion.

Football is a team sport, a team includes the coaches. I always wonder why when things go wrong on a team, especially a team that won a championship last year, the first things fans do is call for the coaches heads. This is typical of Trojan fans whom I know, but not Wildcats fans, at least not until tonight.
It saddens me that fans don’t look at the whole picture. Put yourself in the coaches shoes, what would you do if you were down to the fifth string on your D-Line and you are playing huge, twenty-something seniors who play for a school where everyone stays all four years? I think the team has to find their soul, and find their health, and with no bye’s and battered up players, they need to find a few miracles. I still believe the team has a chance at this point, and we will beat the Beavers [giggling again]!
Here’s a sampling of the best tweets of the night.
The Media:
Stanford-Arizona: WHEN you play a team as significant as WHOM you play. Put this in Tucson w/ no Hogan & Martinez & totally different story

Stanford is the best team in the Pac-12 right now. Not sure how close it is either.

To all the fans who wanted Randall over Anu, this is why you should listen to the media members who kept telling you Anu was the best option

So four teams can have a bye on the same week, but Arizona cannot have a bye?

In rebuttal to this gem from UCLA Head Coach Jim Mora:
Jim Mora goes off on UCLA's upcoming two Thursday night games vs. Stanford, Cal. "A complete injustice to our young men."

I agree with Eric, and I think many fans, players, parents, media and coaches would like to have a good cry and move on. It will be so hard mentally for the team to bounce back next week against Oregon State University. That said, it is parent weekend and a lot of the team’s parents will be coming to town. Hope that makes a difference!
