Arizona Basketball hits the road to the mile high city to face the Colorado Buffaloes to start their last two road games of the regular season.

Will Arizona pull away from the rest of the Pac-12?

The No.9 Wildcats (22-5) defeated their arch instate rivals the Arizona State Sun Devils (14-13), last Wednesday night at McKale Center 99-61. Seems like ages ago. The Cats completed the season sweep of the Sun Devils by almost hitting the century mark.

Wednesday night Arizona will face the only regular season meeting against the Colorado Buffaloes (19-9) who lost their second consecutive game on the road to UCLA 77-53. Another road win will give the Wildcats further motivation and confirmation that they are the best team in the Pac-12. It also would bring them another step further in securing first place. Colorado would love to hit the 20-win mark, stop their two-game losing skid and although projected to make the NCAA tournament, solidify their chances.

Arizona had time to relax and recharged with a week off since their last game. Coach Sean Miller says the Cats must use the rest to their advantage against their remaining opponents.

“We have to make it to our advantage,” he said. “A lot of teams would like to have what we have in front of us. It gives us a chance to be mentally, physically alive, recharge our batteries, making sure we show up at Colorado locked in. We’re going to try to really look at that first and foremost, that freshness aspect and then take this week to improve, build on this performance and get ready for maybe two of our toughest games all season at Colorado and at Utah.”

Allonzo Trier, a freshmen Pac-12 of the year candidate, has not disappointed fans or his coach since his return to the starting lineup. He has scored in double figures for the past three games, scoring 20 points against the Sun Devils.  Trier is the key to victory if the Wildcats want to extend their lead in the Pac-12, the Cats have to continue their aggressive defense and powerful offense as well.

The Colorado Buffaloes want to stope this two-game loosing streak at home. Senior forward Josh Scott leads the team with 16.4 PPG, 8.9 RPG and 1.8 APG. These last two road games will be tricky, but the Wildcats should not fall asleep on the Buffaloes especially on the road. Altitude will not be a factor for the Buffs.

Last Meeting: The Wildcats defeated the Buffaloes in their last meeting on Thursday, February 29th 82-54.

Prediction: Even thought the point-spread is only 4.5 points, Arizona will take care of business on the road, 89-68.
