EXCLUSIVE: Arizona Basketball Recruit Brandon Williams has a positive attitude dealing with injury
The bad news seems to keep coming for Arizona Basketball, even if that bad news has to do with an injured prospect. Brandon Williams has not narrowed down his list, but Arizona could be in his top schools.
Sean Miller and the Arizona Basketball team learned of some disheartening news by the way of an injured prospect who is seriously considering the Cats. As fans are all too aware of by now, we just can’t seem to catch a break, even if that bad luck extends to guys who are considering Arizona.
It has been a fairly difficult start to the year for Arizona, mainly from an injury standpoint.

Let’s recap, senior graduate transfer Talbott Denny tore his ACL in August, a couple of months later, forward Ray Smith announced his retirement after suffering yet another knee injury. Allonzo Trier’s status moving forward is still unknown, and just recently, it was learned Parker Jackson-Cartwright will likely miss up to eight weeks with a high-ankle sprain.
On Monday, five-star and highly coveted recruit Brandon Williams announced via Twitter that he will miss the rest of his junior year following a knee injury that will require surgery. Bummer! Brandon is a great kid, and is a highly regarded recruit for the 2018 recruiting class. Brandon will be scheduling his surgery to get back on the road to recovery for his senior year.

Definitely tough to see a kid like Brandon go down. Zona Zealots reached out to Brandon and his father Chris following the injury, and here is what his dad had to say; “We are good, and ready to move forward with this procedure.”
The five-star point guard out of Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, CA is currently rated as the 8th overall point guard, as well as the 26th overall recruit in the class of 2018 according to Scout.com.
A huge blow to his high school team for sure, and definitely a tough set-back for the young Williams. Following the injury, Brandon’s dad was very confident that this injury won’t affect Brandon’s recruitment. “This will not have any affect on his recruiting,” he said. “Those coaches mostly involved have reached out with their support, something I will monitor closely…their support will play a major role in the future.”

Chris was positive about the reaction from coaches recruiting his son, they called each one individually to explain the situation. From his comments, it will be up to the coaches to make sure they stay interested in Brandon as he whittles his list down to his top four or five.
As for Brandon and his dad, perhaps this injury is a bit of a blessing in disguise. His dad told us “His [Brandon’s] work ethic is off the charts, and he will come back bigger, stronger and better in 2018!”
Certainly good news to hear, since you don’t want to see anyone go down with injury, especially a kid like Brandon who is so talented, and has major upside.
As for a timeline to a possible commitment, that is something that won’t happen just yet, and may not be until next fall. Williams has no new leaders, and no new offers as well. His total still stands at 14 with the Wildcats being in the thick of it.
From his highlights, you can clearly see why Miller and now Wildcats fans everywhere covet this young phenom::
