The Arizona Wildcats are expanding their recruiting efforts globally and pursuing class of 2018 recruit Sam Froling of Australia.

More from Basketball Recruiting

After the Wildcats successfully recruited Lauri Markkanen aka “The Finnisher” from Finland, they are continuing to look overseas for that next hidden gem. The Cats already have one Aussie in Keanu Pinder and are looking to add a second, Sam Froling – Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!

This past season fans experience that “down under” toughness that Pinder provided when his name was called. Sometimes its not about scoring a lot of points, but doing those little things that don’t get mentioned in the box score. Froling not only does the little things but can also do the “big things” that can have an impact on the outcome of the game.

Froling is 6-foot-9 and 205 lbs and is listed as a three-star power forward, but can also play the center position. He is a lefty, and the Wildcats have had some remarkable lefties: Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Mark Tollefson.

Besides his ability to play multiple positions down low, he can block, block and block again. Froling has a smooth looking shot from inside and out. He also has really good footwork down low and runs the floor well for a big man. Enjoy the video highlights of Froling ( courtesy of Squad8):

Froling recently helped Australia to win the FIBA U17 Oceania Championship. Over the course of five games, he averaged 20 points per game (which was second on the team) and led the team with ten rebounds per game. Australia will now move onto the FIBA U18 Asia Championship 2018.

Froling’s performance even earned him an All Star Five placement:

He also has an older brother, Harry Froling, that played only ten games his freshman year at SMU and recently decided to transfer to Marquette. Harry averaged four points, three rebounds and 14 minutes per game. He is listed at 6-foot-11, 260 lbs – similar built to Sam – must have been some fun backyard one-on-ones!

Harry recently showed his younger brother some love on Twitter:

Besides Arizona, there are other schools that are expressing interest in Sam: Indiana, New Mexico, Pittsburgh, St. Mary’s and Wichita State. Froling has not paid any official visits yet to any school but will let you know when he does.
