They say it takes a village to raise children. Having two of my own and have mentored a few more, that couldn’t be truer, and this is not lost on Shareef O’Neal who signed his financial papers last week. One more step in his process to commit to the Arizona Basketball program.
Shareef attends the same high school as Arizona’s Ira Lee did; Crossroads School in Santa Monica California. Deep in the heart of eGame and entertainment company land, the gym, the field, and the pool are in a separate place than the school. Next to Yahoo, Lionsgate and Riot Games, this state-of-the-art private school is the perfect place for the O’Neal clan who all attend. Shareef’s younger brother Shaqir plays on the same basketball Roadrunners team as his older brother.
Crossroads Head Coach Anthony Davis is a graduate of Austin Peay State University where he earned a degree in Physical Education, Teaching and Coaching. Davis started out as Crossroads assistant coach and has been promoted to head coach this season. Davis has played in the famous Drew League for many years along with former Wildcats Ryan Anderson and Jordin Mayes. He cannot wait to coach O’Neal this season.

When the Crossroads Varsity team learned of Coach Davis becoming the new head coach, here was their reaction:
Here’s what Davis had to say:
A coach that has a significant influence on some Arizona Basketball players before they get to Tucson is Calfornia Supreme AAU Head Coach Gary Franklin Sr. Franklin Sr. has mentored Wildcats such as Parker Jackson-Cartwright, Solomon Hill, Stanley Johnson, Deandre Ayton and Ira Lee.

But his latest player to enter the Arizona Basketball world is 2018 commit Shareef O’Neal. In our interview, Franklin discusses how Shareef has matured. He also tells us about Shaquille O’Neal’s influence on his Cal Supreme players, not just Shareef, as the elder O’Neal took the helm and coached the team in Vegas to a Championship.
