It’s been a few months already, and Arizona Football head coach Kevin Sumlin is making his impact felt quickly, especially in recruiting.

Coming in, we knew the Wildcats needed the most help in its recruiting efforts. The reputation of Kevin Sumlin being a good recruiter with deep, Texas ties could perhaps pay off in a big way for Arizona Football.

Since joining, a great staff has been put together in Tucson, and now it is time to see their hard work starting to pay off. So far it seems to be helping.

If you have been following, Arizona has just one commit in the class of 2019 (Logan Wilson), but the Wildcats do have numerous offers out to some marquee players. One of those players is four-star quarterback, Grant Gunnell.

Gunnell, a former commit to Sumlin and Texas A&M, the Texas-based QB has since decided to open his recruitment, and the Wildcats wasted no time in getting involved.

Since getting an offer back in January, the Wildcats have made a ton of efforts to make gun-slingin’ Gunnell a top priority.

Arizona has had some stiff competition, but luckily, the Wildcats were able to convince Gunnell to visit Tucson for an official visit.

Now months after the offer, it appears the Wildcats have some momentum, as 247Sports’ Christopher Nee, Jason Scheer and Brian Perroni recently made picks in favor of the Wildcats.

While it doesn’t mean Gunnell will indeed pick Arizona, can’t help but like the progress Arizona has made in this recruitment.

The other favorites according to his 247 profile are; Ohio State and LSU. That’s quite some competition.

If Arizona were to gain a commitment from Gunnell, that would be a huge get! He’s a tremendous talent with a big arm, and big, play-making ability.

He’s very much a pro-style quarterback with a plus-size frame, and huge upside. Gunnell stands in the pocket well, delivers an absolutely perfect football, and show he has decent mobility too, running for over 300 yards and eight touchdowns last year at St. Pius X High School in Houston, TX!

Just from looking at his highlights, there is a lot to like, and Gunnell could potentially be a program changer.
