After hiring Sumlin in January, the school went through signing day. We’ve hosted our annual Spring Scrimmage, construction has finally started with the long overdue indoor practice facility, now its time to bring in the players who are going to change the culture at Arizona!
Committed so far are; Texas-based defensive back, Logan Wilson, and Phoenix-area punter, Kyle Ostendorp. Both solid commits in the class of 2019.
If you don’t recall, Kyle is the player who committed to the Wildcats just days ago!
Well, on Saturday, Sumlin and the Wildcats learned, that Houston-area running back, Michael Wiley, will be joining them too! The Strake Jesuit High School product committed to Arizona, after making his announcement via social media.
Wiley should be a nice addition to the class, hailing from the talented, Houston-area high school! Michael had picked the Wildcats after having received offers from Yale and Princeton!
If his academic reputation doesn’t impress you, perhaps his stats and highlights will! This past season with the Crusaders, Wiley ran for just over 1,000 yards on 154 carries (6.9 yard per carry average) with 10 touchdowns. Additionally, he also had 200+ yards receiving with three touchdowns.
The senior-to-be stands possesses good size and athleticism for a running back, with the ability to continue to add mass. Standing 5-feet-10-inches and nearly 175 pounds, Wiley has good vision and patience in the backfield, where he takes the ball well, finding his hole, and exploding for some big carries.
Based on his highlights, he runs well, has a bit of shiftiness and is not easy to bring down. He has good separation in the open field, and is quite good out the backfield as a pass catcher!
