Arizona Basketball five-star commits Nico Mannion and Josh Green came to the Drew League in Compton California and Zona Zealots caught up with the duo.

If you have followed Zona Zealots for the last four years, you know that In The Front Row has provided us some great interviews and content on Arizona Basketball and Football. Well, today was no different. As luck would have it, as we were watching and documenting Shareef and Shaqir O’Neal playing with Brandon Jennings and Kenyon Martin Jr. on Shaunie O’Neal’s Drew League team, Tuff Crowd, we spotted Nico Mannion and Josh Green in the stands.

Just last week, Arizona Junior forward Ira Lee participated in the Drew League and killed it. In this interview, we ask the newest Wildcats about playing in the Drew League. The Drew League is a pro-am league that takes place each weekend in the summer in Compton, California, at King Drew High School.

More from Basketball Recruiting

What is so special at the Drew League is that NBA players show up to play on various teams after NBA Summer League and on Sunday former Oregon Duck Jordan Bell showed up to play on Most Hated Players, Nick Young’s team (Swaggy P is a former Trojan). Also playing with Bell was former USC Trojan Elijah Stewart who, along with Bell, provided for some very exciting basketball.

Also showing up to play today was Chimezie Metu, another former Trojan now playing for the San Antonio Spurs and Gary Payton Jr. and Stephen Thompson Jr, both former OSU Beavers. Everywhere you look there is current, future or past Pac-12 player playing in the Drew League.

Arizona Wildcats fans are so excited that Green and Mannion chose to commit to Sean Miller and his program. We were curious how it’s going with the team so far and if they are picking up on Miller’s defensive scheme, so we asked about that as well. We were also curious about the Red and Blue Game Dunk Contest, and if either or both were planning their dunks yet.

This Wildcats fan cannot wait to see Nico and Josh along with Ira and the rest of the Cats kill it this upcoming season. Seems they are on the right track and we hope to see them play in the Drew and then the NBA next year. Can we just say we already adore these two?
