Arizona Basketball: Five reasons to attend the Red and Blue Game
By David Rosen
The annual Arizona Basketball Red and Blue game is coming up on September 27th and here are five reasons why you should go.
It’s that time of the year again when all your favorite new and returning players play for the first time in McKale Center in front of the fans, kicking off a new season. This year the annual Arizona Basketball Red and Blue Game is taking place on September 27th (time TBD). If you haven’t been before, I highly recommend going. Tickets are open to the public and range from $7-$15. They go on sale online at 10 am MST on Saturday, August 3rd.
Speaking from experience to get the best tickets possible to be ready to go right at 10 am. I went two years ago and got incredible 2nd row, center court tickets. For those that don’t have season tickets, this is your chance to see some of the best talents in the country up close and personal at a low cost.
This season is going to be one of redemption and getting back to the top of the Pac-12 and the country. There are high expectations for the incoming class and those returning, so why not come and see why! The event is usually sold out and would not be surprised if this years sells out fairly quickly.
More from Wildcats Basketball
- Arizona Basketball likely to schedule Florida Atlantic for 2023
- Rondae Hollis-Jefferson’s FIBA World Cup performance is reminiscent of Kobe Bryant’s
- Rawle Alkins a star in the Drew League this summer
- Arizona Basketball to play in ‘Battle 4 Atlantis’ in 2024
- Reflections on the Pac-12, the Arizona Wildcats, and other memories
The event is made up three different parts: player intros, fan favorite slam dunk contest and a full court Red vs. Blue scrimmage. There is much to see and take in when attending, certainly worth the price of admission.
Here are five reasons why you should attend the Red and Blue game this year:
- First chance to see the team in action.
- Get to experience the energy and excitement within a packed McKale Center.
- Watch the players have some fun during the dunk contest.
- See players compete against one another and proving to Miller and the coaching staff they deserve minutes.
- Player intros, nothing like them!
My personal favorite part of the event is the player intros. Each player comes out to their choice of music, puts on a little dance and get the fans on their feet! My second favorite part would have to be the slam dunk contest because who doesn’t like a Wildcat dunk!
Over the years there have been some memorable moments. From Ira Lee doing his best Khalil Tate Heisman pose to Rawle Alkins dunking over Sean Miller’s head. Relive last years action:
At Zona Zealots, we are can’t wait for this 2019-2020 Red and Blue Game. This will be one for the record books! Get your tickets on August 3rd, you won’t be disappointed! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
