Brandon Williams had a lot of suitors after decommitting from Arizona a couple of months ago. He has made his decision and will be announcing later this week.

Typically when a recruit decommits from a school, the likely hood of them committing to the same school again is very slim. Even still, Arizona fans still hold out hope Brandon Williams will commit once again.

Williams kept Arizona in his top-3 and finished his visits this past weekend. With the Gonzaga trip complete, five-star PG Brandon Williams, has finally set his decision date.

On May 5th the country will finally know where one of the top remaining uncommitted players in the 2018 class will be going next year. The end is in sight and soon we’ll know whether Sean Miller truly is a genius.

All three final schools would immediately get a boost with a commitment from BWill. The PG from Encino, CA (Crespi) is a game changer. Whoever pitched the focus being on him will win this race.

The PG position demands a lot. You must be vocal, fierce, under control and confident. In college basketball, more so than the NBA, a championship caliber team has a strong floor general. Each school can use BWill in numerous ways.

Oregon is a fast-paced, get up and go, athletic team. Dana Altman has been successful with this style of play, and you need guards to lead. The Ducks offense isn’t dependent on the PG position. Instead they find success by a committee of guards who all can control the ball.

Even though the Ducks run a fluid system with interchangeable guards, Altman and company would be wise to use BWill as the top committee member. A player like Brandon, with this skill set and intelligence, only creates more havoc in a fast-paced style like Oregon’s.

The odd team out seemed this whole time seemed to be Gonzaga. Mark Few has never really been known to bring in top-tier guards, or develop them into first round picks. For the past couple of years, Gonzaga has proven to develop players more at the Forward/Power Forward positions.

The Bulldogs have been very successful in the regular season year in and year out. They’ve made long runs in the NCAA tournament. Few is very good at getting his team to work cohesively, all as one unit. But what’s been missing is a dominant PG who can lead and take over when needed.

Perhaps that is why Gonzaga excited Brandon enough to take his final visit to Spokane. Mark Few’s system, although needing every player to work as one, could lean heavily on a PG like BWill. When you have game changing players, you bend to fit them into your system.

The one team who truly needs a dominant PG to be successful is Arizona. Sean Miller has seen only one PG come through who was a true leader on both sides of the court: TJ McConnell.

Miller’s offensive philosophy can be hard to watch and frustrating. Most of the time it’s due to not having a PG on the floor to break everything down, control the game and lead the charge. Too many times the guards have dribbled too much, gotten themselves trapped, or simply look lost.

Williams would have full support and given the reigns to lead the Wildcats from day one. Not just because his skill set and attributes point that way, but because Miller would finally find the PG he needs. Someone who can score when needed, create his own shot, find the open man and remain in control. BWill would be the focus of the Arizona Wildcats, no ifs, ands, or buts.

Even with Arizona seeming to be the best fit for BWill, the feeling is Oregon will ultimately win this decision. There’s still hope Sean Miller was able to make a strong enough case, and that’s what we’ll be hoping for come Saturday.
