Arizona Basketball: Lands A Huge Commitment from ‘2019 Nico Mannion
By Jordan Cuda
Arizona Basketball head coach landed a humongous fish. Sean Miller reeled in the top point guard Nico Mannion in the 2019 class.
Many experts said that it would take years for the University of Arizona basketball team to rebound after the FBI investigation. While the experts were voicing their opinions on the future of the Wildcats. Sean Miller and his staff were hard at work on the recurring trail. All the miles and hours traveling across the country paid off today as Arizona landed a commitment from 5-Star recruit Nico Mannion.
Nico is a valley native and currently attends Pinnacle high school in Phoenix, Arizona. Standing six-foot-3, Nico possesses all the skills needed to be yet another special talent to take the court at the McKale Center.
While playing at Pinnacle high school, Nico has been nothing short of sensational. As he has averaged 16 points a game along with four assist and three rebounds. Not mention coming off a State Championships run ending in defeating Mountain Pointe 77-60.
Mannion’s accomplishments on the court lead to Nico being ranked as one of the top recruits coming out of high school. Originally, he was set to be part of the 2020 class until he got cleared to reclassify for the 2019 class.

Even with this move, the offers from all the big time schools came rolling in. Including defending national champions Villanova along with an offer from Coach K at the Duke. It wasn’t until recently that Nico narrowed his two schools down to Marquette and the University Of Arizona.
All it took was an in-home visit from head coach Sean Miller and assistant Mark Phelps for Nico to know that becoming a Wildcat was the right choice. After the visit, Nico said that the U of A “felt like home.”
The commitment from Nico is a big sigh of relief for Wildcat nation as it could be a sign that our world is going back to normal after the FBI investigation. Nico is the first five-star recruit to commit to Arizona since the FBI story broke and he might not be the last. As he will be attending the red and blue game with fellow AAU basketball team Josh Green. Josh is also a five-star recruit that would no doubt aid in the rebuilding process.
It looks like Nico will be in good company once he arrives in Tucson. His commitment caught the attention of another enormous commitment for the Wildcats this offseason in Brandon Williams.

Nico’s already recruiting Josh green.
Nico Mannion will look to lead the Wildcats both on and off the court. College is always better with friends, so we at ZonaZealots highly recommend that Nico gets his buddy Josh Green to join him down in Tucson. Together they can work on bring the Wildcats back to the promise land and bring back that big shinny trophy with them.
