Former Wildcat Damon Stoudamire, one of the greats for the Toronto Raptors

Former Arizona Basketball and NBA player, Damon Stoudamire, was one of the greats to have played for the Toronto Raptors.
Mighty Mouse! In honor of the Toronto Raptors making the NBA Finals for the first time in their franchise history and winning Game One against the Golden State Warriors, we want to recognize one of the greats to have played for Arizona Basketball and for Toronto, Damon Stoudamire. There have many point guards to have played at Arizona and gone onto to have remarkable careers at the professional level, Damon is one of those without a doubt.
He had an incredible four seasons at Arizona and then continued that success at the NBA level. Currently Stoudamire is now the head coach for the Pacific Tigers. Player, coach doesn’t matter, he knows how to compete at a high level. Great to see him continue is involvement with the game of basketball.

At Arizona, he went from not starting his freshman year to starting all but one game the last three seasons as a Wildcats. Stoudamire averaged 15.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. Mainly known for his three point shooting ability, he shot 40.2% from three as a Wildcat.
He also help lead Arizona basketball to the 1994 Final Four, where they ended up losing to Arkansas. For his efforts, he was awarded Pac-10 Player of the Year, where he averaged 22.8 points and 7.3 assists per game.
After his college career ended, he was drafted by the Toronto Raptors in the No.7th pick, becoming the team’s ever pick. Stoudamire went on to have an impressive rookie season and averaged 19.0 points, 9.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds per game. He went on to win NBA Rookie of the Year!
Stoudamire continued to play another 14 seasons in the NBA. He finished his career averaging 13.4 points, 6.1 assists, 3.5 rebounds per game and shot 35.7% from three. He wasn’t done yet though!
He was an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Tigers and then an assistant coach under Coach Sean Miller for two seasons. Finally, Stoudamire became a head coach for the Pacific Tigers in March 2016, where he is currently still coaching.
