The latest ESPN Bracketology seedings came out and Arizona Basketball is projected No.6 in the Midwest.

It seems as if it’s a never-ending situation where the media doubts Arizona Basketball abilities. They haven’t even played their first game of the season, but that hasn’t stopped the media. The latest ESPN Bracketology has Arizona No.6 in the Midwest, that’s outrageous!

It would be one thing if the Wildcats didn’t have the depth and skill to back up a higher seeding, but they do. They have one of the better backcourts in the Pac-12 and in the country. They have the size and strength in the frontcourt to contend with anyone, yet they get such a low projection. It makes no sense.

Heading into the 2019-20 season, the Wildcats are preseason ranked No.21 and picked to finished fourth in the Pac-12. The Top 25 ranking is fair, the conference one is not quite considering the overall skillset they have compared to the rest of the conference. As long as the Wildcats can stay healthy and take care of home court, they can finish at the top and even have a chance to win the Pac-12.

The Oregon Ducks have the highest projected seed according to ESPN at No.4 in the Midwest. Most preseason polls have them as the best team in the Pac-12 and the team to beat. They do have the pieces to the puzzle to be the best, that’s for sure. It’s one thing to look good on paper, but it’s another thing to deliver on those expectations.

There are a lot of unknowns this season, but many expect Nico Mannion and Josh Green to deliver the goods. Overall as a team though, no one is sure how well this team will work together as one cohesive unit. Having a mixture of young and old players on this team, it may take a little time for them to gel.

The good thing about college basketball, unlike football, they can afford to have some early bumps in the road. It may take a month or two for everyone to be clicking on the same page, but it will happen. It will be important for them not to get caught up on what the media think and let their play speak for itself.
