The beginning of the piece set the tone. Shareef showed off his new tattoo. The meaning behind it was to prove to all the non believers early on his basketball career who didn’t believe he could be that great of an athlete and to remind those same people to “Not to hop on the bandwagon when I prove everyone wrong again.”

Part 1 – Skills class

The first part of the documentary highlighted Shareef and his teammates involved in a skills class at Crossroads gymnasium It involves scrimmage and drills to get ready for full practice. Also, it includes player development, gives everyone an opportunity to compete and prepare for when regular season practice begins.

More from Basketball Recruiting

One of the attributes of Shareef that many people overlook is his willingness to learn and how coachable he is. Crossroads first-year head coach Anthony Davis on Shareef, “His potential is so high. I am the luckiest man in the world. Honestly, he is the best player in California. Couldn’t be more blessed to also have a guy that is so coachable.”

Shareef’s younger brother Shaqir, class of 2021, is seen taking part in the skills practice. He’s Just a freshman, but the natural basketball talent he has is apparent. Could we maybe see two O ‘Neals play at Arizona, who knows? Shaqir came with Reef to the Red and Blue game. Shareef indicates that this year will be a challenging year for his squad, facing some top talent from all over the country. His team though has the X-factor – Super Sayian coming at ya!

Toward the end of skills class, Shareef completed a ‘off one leg, between the legs’ dunk. GAME OVER! After class, the teammates debated who is the best point guard in the NBA right now, best shoes in the league, best player in the league:. Kyrie Irving, Russel Westbrook, Steph Curry, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant were some of the names being tossed around. Gotta throw Lauri Markkanen’s name into the mix!

One thing apparent during this part of the documentary was the amount of fun these guys like to have after practice. Watching these guys shoutout their Instagram accounts is hilarious! And if you don’t know, now you do. Shaqir can rap – wonder where he got those skills from? Hmm, maybe Shaq??

Part 2 – Fall League game at Damien High School

The second part of the documentary highlighted a fall league game vs. Damien High School. There in attendance was Shaq, who Shareef loves to see at his games.  During the game, he demonstrated his toughness inside, dunking skills, outside shots, vision to find his teammates for the easy buckets and natural ability to finish with authority at the rim.

Everyone was feeding off of Shareef’s high energy play, including  Ben Terry, class of 2018 and Yuuki Okubo, class of 2020, known for breaking ankles, is called “Shifty Yuki.”  Shareef’s impact he has on his teammates is one trait Wildcat fans can wait to see!

Part 3 – Second Crossroads practice of the week

Shareef and teammates took part in shooting drills and received instruction by Coach Davis on certain plays. It wouldn’t be a Home Team Hoops video without some “jelly” by Shareef, some Okubo razz, and dazzle and some Super Sayian dunks by Reef!

Also, Crossroads team manager “Dirty Curry” was profiled. It must be those “dirty” looking outside shots.

Part 4 – The Shoe Collection and Arizona Visit

Shareef headed back home in Los Angeles to show off his shoe collection – in two rooms! And I thought I had a lot of shoes. He showed off his favorites shoes and what the shoes meant to him. Some of the shoes he has worn and not worn.

  • Peach Jam – one of his favorites, but has not yet gotten a chance to worn them
  • Jordan “Bred” Ones x 3 – played in these, including one pair that has the word “calm” written on them to keep him calm during the game
  • Suicide Squad custom Kryies
  • Various Lebron’s and KD shoes include the Academy Lebron’s – he even found his goggles inside them!
  • Black OVO 10’s – him and Bol Bol have the same pair
  • Kobe Preludes – one of his favorites, that he wore all last year
  • Yeezy 350 boost and Yeezy Triple Blacks
  • Some flashy gold plated shoes he wears when he goes out at night
  • Vapor Max running shoes
  • Craig Sager shoes – very rare, only 100 made in the world and he has No.17. Has his name on the inside the shoes. Only worn once during his dad’s statue ceremony at the Staple Center.
  • Favorite shoes right now: The Kyries

Shaqir even has an envious shoe collection happening:

  • Two pairs of OVO 12s
  • What the Kobe’s and what the Lebron
  • Drew League shoes
  • Supreme Shoes – those are lit!

Also, Shareef explained that the reason why he likes Dragon Ball Z so much. When he first started dunking, he would scream afterward, similar to Super Sayiaan – makes sense!  Next, he showed off an All Start MVP Trophy, won by his dad and Kobe, which was passed on to Shareef by his dad – soon he will have his own!

Towards the end of Part 4, Shareef talked about his official visit to the University of Arizona, during the Red and Blue game. His visit included team paintball, going out to a nice restaurant and having Ira Lee as his host. Shaqir was even there on the visit. He mentioned that he made his decision early to come to Arizona because how he was treated like family. “Arizona felt like it was a great fit, they recruited me earlier.”

Part 5 –  Shareef vs. Shaqir backyard one on one

The last part of the documentary highlighted Shareef and Shaqir going one on one in the backyard, at night, on a small hoop and having some brotherly fun! Even with Shareef in socks, he still “jellied” his way to to the hoop and threw down a few “posters” on his younger brother.

Shaqir held his own though from outside as well putting a few dunks down – Super Sayian Jr!  He even did some impressions of Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Zion Williamson, Bol Bol, LaMelo Ball, his own brother, himself and James Hunt – lay up!

An O’Neal Home Team Hoops video would not be complete without the rest of the family making an appearance at the end:, younger sisters, Me’Arah and Mimi O’Neal a sophomore and his mom Shaunie O’Neal.
