Arizona Basketball landed a huge commit in class of 2018 five-star recruit and former Nevada Wolf Pack freshman Jordan Brown.
Welcome to Arizona Basketball! Class of 2018 five-star recruit and former Nevada Wolf Pack freshman Jordan Brown announced he is officially committing to play for Arizona. He will though be sitting out per NCAA transfer rules and will be eligible to play during the 2020-21 season. Brown becomes the first official transfer/commit that will be new to the roster and play after this season. Regardless, this is huge for Arizona basketball!
There had been much speculation since Brown announced in mid-April that he was leaving Nevada, that Arizona may be where he was leaning to. Finally those rumors can be put to rest as it’s now official, he will be an Arizona Wildcat! Coach Sean Miller does it again. Those who continue to doubt what he is truly capable of in light of the college basketball bribery scandal, Miller once again proves why he is one the best college basketball recruiters out there.

Even though Brown will have to sit out a year, he will be able to practice with the team during the 2019-20 season and be on the sideline to take in the McKale Center experience. Getting in reps against the other backcourt players, such as Chase Jeter, Ira Lee, Stone Gettings and Zeke Nnaji will benefit the Wildcats this season during practice sessions and also prepare Brown for the following season.
In his freshman year at Nevada, he played in 33 games but saw limited playing time averaging only 10.1 minutes per game, 3.0 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. Brown wasn’t really able to showcase his talent for the Wolf Pack, but with his commitment to Arizona, that will change.
He has good footwork down low and can finish with both hands. At 6 foot 10 and 190 pounds, Brown already has the body frame to compete down low, but making the transition to a more competitive Pac-12 conference will require him to continue to put in the work in on and off the court.
Now that Brown has committed, other recruits that Arizona has offered or players that plan on visiting will take his commitment into account when deciding their school. Who they will be playing with and is there a role for me? These are items on their checklists.
At Zona Zealots, we would like to Jordan Brown to Arizona Basketball and the Bear Down Family! We look forward to all the exciting things that he will bring to the 2020-21 season. Bear Down, Arizona!
